'Team Telford' - working together for our school
TEAM TELFORD
We are proud of our school #Team Telford.
Here we want to share how our community can work together as staff, parents, carers and children to create a team which can achieve great things!
Rise and Shine is our new Telford Junior School initiative, which will run from now to the Commonwealth Games in July and beyond. Working with a group of parents, we will be running a series of activities around mental and physical health and wellbeing for #TeamTelford. As you may have seen in past newsletters, we already have initiatives in place like ‘Thrive Time’ and the ‘Daily Mile’, but we want to do more as a school community.
We have spent some time creating our ‘Wellbeing Wishlist’ (see below), which details some of the provisions that we would love for our Telford children to be able to use. But we need your help to raise the funds, to bring our Wellbeing Vision to life.
How can you help? There are many ways to get involved to help raise the funds we need to build our Wellbeing provision. The parent team we are working with have set up a Just Giving page where you can donate or sponsor the activities - every little bit helps!
These are some of the initiatives we have planned and there will be more to come. You’ll be hearing from us regularly in the school newsletter. The Daily Mile: Conquering the Commonwealth: Through the Daily Mile, our #TeamTelford classes will collectively virtually travel through as many Commonwealth countries as possible, in the run up to the games. On an average day, #TeamTelford walks 500 miles! We’ll share our progress, achievements, and some of our adventures along the way.
We would be very grateful for donations when we reach our Commonwealth milestones and will keep you updated on these.
#TeamTelford Half Marathon
A group of our parents are training to run the Leamington Half Marathon in June. For many of them, it’s the first time they have attempted a distance like this. If you are planning to, or would like to run the half marathon, reach out to Jess Marshall via the school email: admin2315@welearn365.com to join the group. Or please show your support by sponsoring the parents from your class, who have been crazy enough to take on the challenge. We’ll update you on how they get on. Good luck!
Workplace matched funding: Many workplaces will match any funds raised to a certain amount. If this is available to you, please consider fundraising using this initiative and donating to Rise and Shine using the Just Giving Page.
Get Involved: If you have any ideas for fundraising or if you are able to contribute to or build on our Wellbeing Wishlist, then please let the school office know at admin2315@welearn365.com.
Following a tough few years, mental and physical Wellbeing are more important than ever for our children. With your help, we can achieve the Wellbeing Wishlist to help our #TeamTelford children continue to Rise and Shine!
Best wishes Lori Herbert, Claire Woodcock and Jess Marshall
